BHA Design Optimisation

Course Objectives

  • Reinforce your knowledge in directional drilling by using advanced technologies and real case studies (using DrillScan's WellScan proprietary software)

  • Perfect your understanding about steering equipment and how to combine it with drilling bits

  • Gain the know-how to optimise the directional drilling BHAs in a cost-effective way 

  • Enhance drill string design through analysis of possible failure due to vibrations

  • Gain the know-how to optimise the drilling of a well through a post analysis process 

Who should attend the course:
 
Drilling engineers and supervisors, well engineers, drilling optimisation engineers and directional drilling engineers
 
Attendees are required to bring their laptop.

Course Overview

  • Day 1 - Introduction to the theoretical basics & DrillScan Drilling Software Platform

  • Day 2 - Directional Pre-Analysis & PDC Bit Model 

  • Day 3 - Directional Post analysis & case studies 

  • Day 4 - Dynamic Modal Analysis: Introduction to modal analysis theory and vibrations phenomena; Single and multiple depths simulations

General Advice

  • Day 3 evening - Networking and dinner @ Glasshouse Restaurant in Edinburgh

  • Day 5 evening - Edinburgh Castle and Edinburgh Dungeon tour

  • Attendees are required to bring their laptop. 

  • Each participant will have the possibility to use DrillScan Drilling Software Platform after the training.
